I'm happy this person resurrected this thread, since I was just wondering the same thing with my new Macbook Pro but hadn't yet searched for the answer. I'll try FN-backspace tonight when I see my new Mac.

Btw, you can use USER CP > EDIT OPTIONS

a MacBook keyboard only has a "Delete" key which acts like the "Backspace" key.

That's because Apple's too stupid to provide the standard set of basic keys that everyone else has been able to, even on tiny "netbook" computers.

The best bet is to install the free Karabiner utility and switch your F12 key to "forward delete." And file a complaint with Apple here, telling them that you want a real Delete key (not a Backspace key mislabeled "delete").
