I'm not sure if I can still get a free OS X disk because my Apple Care ended since my MBP is from 2009, but the store is pretty far away and I don't really want to bother.

Anyway, I only have Windows 7 on my MBP and was wondering how to disable the startup noise when the white screen appears when you first turn the laptop on.

type mmsys.cpl in Start menu search box and hit enter.

Click sounds tab and uncheck the box named “Play Windows startup sound” and apply.

It can't find any mmsys.cpl file

The Windows startup sound I already disabled because it kept making a noise whenever Windows loaded, and now it doesn't. But it still makes a noise when the computer turns on before it loads Windows

I imagine that OP will have extraordinary challenges in muting the Mac's startup chime, when the thread you posted covers some methods to mute the chime from OS X. The OP apparently has only Windows installed.
Here's some other possibilities:

And, those hints also would need OS X installed.

Hey, scissorband - you can order Snow Leopard online from Apple. No need to get to that "far away" Apple Store.

Only $20!
