How do I do a [icon] name change?

I feel really stupid having to ask this but I have been searching for the answer and trying different stuff for over an hour with no luck. 🙁

How can I change the name under an icon on the desktop?

Highlight the icon you want to change and then press enter. Or you can right-click the icon and click on "Get Info." Find the "Name & Extension" column and type whatever name you want.

The "click" technique will work, the second click just has to be over the name and not the icon itself, I use this technique all the time.
