How do I do the shooting star/laser effects in messages?

Tried to show someone this feature last night and couldnt get it to work. I have an iPhone 6s, iOS 10.

When I press and hold, do 3d touch on the blue arrow it does nothing and it just sends the message.

How do I do the new effects?

Hold send, arrow, and at the top you should see "screen". Tap that.

You also need to make sure that in SETTINGS, GENERAL/Accessibility/Reduce Motion is OFF

And might potentially need to disable and re-enable iMessage if it's still not working even after that.
