hey,

I've always wondered, is there a way in maps to set a pin, and then select another location, be it an existing poi or another pin that I set up and then have maps create a route between those two? Just to quickly estimate a distance for example.

I'm pretty sure I've seen someone doing this but every time I have this situation i end up trying for a while only to then give up frustratedly.

Anyone knows about this?

If you long press on a location on a map that should drop a pin there and you should have the option to get directions to/from that location (that you can change either coming from/to your current location or another location that you can find).

Between a dropped pin and a address sure it's easy. Drop the pin, hit directions, tap my location and then put in the location you want.

Sure there is. Came with iOS 10. Well a destination between two points neither of which are your location.

You have always been able to do that. But you can't travel from A (your location) to B and then C at the same time. What came with iOS 10 is A to B but during navigation you can for example navigate to a gas station.

edit: Maybe that wasn't what the op was asking but still not possible.

I think we differ on what's he asking. We are both right in this case. Yeah trip planning with multiple stops like my old Garmin would be nice.

I get that I can drop a pin and the change the from or to location to something I type in manually rather than "current location"alright.
But what if I don't know any address but just wanna drop a needle into an approximate area and another one and then see how far from a to b?

You can't do multiple pins. You can work around that by placing one pin, saving that location as a favorite, then placing the pin at another location and then selecting directions to that location from the favorite location that was just saved from the previous pin.

Alternatively you can use another app that might support multiple pins or allow you to pick a starting location from the map as if you are using another pin (like Google Maps supports).
