My friend had a problem with their MacBook hard drive, as a result it wouldn't boot etc, so it was replaced and now it needs to be formatted. How do I go about doing this?

I heard it had to be done via another Mac. If so, how is this done? and can I use an ethernet cable?

Thanks, JACK:)

Thanks, I got it sorted last night, I though it was as simple as that, just went into the Disk utility and selected 'erase'. Basically the person who's MacBook this was was very used to PCs so they were adamant it wasn't this simple! Looking back it was a bit daft of me to not think it through.

Thanks again.
