I have a iPhone 14 Plus and am heading to Italy this summer/fall. How do I purchase an esim for this phone and which one should I get?

I definitely need to make voice calls and text while in Italy. Sounds like an Esim cannot do that. What do I need? Should I not take my Iphone 14 max and take an Android phone with a traditional SIM instead?
