I have an XFX Core Edition 6770 that I'm trying to get to work with my Mac Pro and Mountain Lion (10.8.4).

How do I get it to work? I see that it is connected in the Expansion Slot Utility (1st slot):

But I plug my monitor in (via a DVI-VGA adaptor) and even after boot, the screen doesn't come on. Suggestions? I'm kinda stuck here.

Don't know the answer unfortunately, but how do you get that view in the image you uploaded?

^^^^That's the Expansion Slot Utility, it allows you to configure the number of lanes available in each slot of a 1,1 or 2,1 Mac Pro. On 2008 and newer mac Pros the 4 PCIe slots are already configured in firmware and the configuration can not be changed.

If you go to /System/Library/CoreServices/ there's an application in there named "Expansion Slot Utility". Open that, and that's where you'll find where I got the screenshot from. However, as pointed out by the person above, your Mac Pro may not have the utility. It doesn't sound like newer Mac Pros have it.
