How do i get my mic working? Problem with line-in?

I have tried 2 different mics and so far nothing works.

I have changed the settings to line-in on the system preferences and it still doesnt work.

Any ideas? Im i missing something?

Your microphones are more than like Microphone level and not Line level. I just get USB headsets for my Macs if I have to.

Your mileage may vary if you want to get an iMic or other USB audio device.

I dont really understand what you meant there (its late 😛). Do you mean they are not sensitive enough?

Ill just add that the microphones work fine on my macbook.

I have the same issue as you, the mic i used on my MBP for skype doesn't work on my MP.

I read somewhere one this forum that the line in port does not supply any power out, unlike the MBP.

The best thing to do is buy a USB microphone or get a USB adaptor to supply the 3.5" jack with power.

Right now i'm using the Logitech Sphere camera for the microphone. I wish Logitech would bring out some mac drivers so i would use the tilt/pan!
