How do i get orginal keboard shortcuts back ?

Ok the volume shortcuts at the top of my keyboard have changed what they used to do. Turn up the volume now shows me the dash board. Turn down the volume minimizes the window altogether ? How can i get them back to normal and why did they even change ?

System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse->Keyboard->Use all F1,F2, etc. as standard function keys.
