How do I get photos off the iPhone?

What's the best way to get the photos taking with the iPhone onto my computer? I've only found that I can email them to myself but is there a way to download them or something?

If you have a Mac, Image Capture works pretty well. It's in your Applications folder.

or if you just shake the iPhone above the computer it normally works too.
