Is there a way to get siri to play voice messages through the speaker? So is there a command that will let me get Siri to play VM's straight through the speaker? This is for a visually impaired user.

I may be missing something so excuse me. Do you mean that the bluetooth pairing isnt working? Or when you plug a speaker into the audio port nothing happens?

I have a blind user that wants to have Siri read his voice messages out loud via the iPhone speaker so he can hear it loud. Is that possible via any setting/command?

Sure, Just ask Siri if you have any Voicemail messages or just new Voicemail messages. They play by default over the speaker on the bottom of the iPhone unless you are holding the iPhone to your ear or have headphones connected.

What iPhone does the blind user have? If it is a later model then they can just say something like: "Hey Siri: Do I have any new Voicemail messages".

Thanks, thats what I was looking for. But the question is, how do I get the VM itself to play on speaker, even if I don't hold my phone next to my ear, I cannot get it to automatically play on the speaker.

What iPhone / iOS level are you using?

Here is what worked in a test on an iPhone 6S / SE pair running iOS 9.3.1:

"Hey Siri: Play last Voicemail message". You should hear Siri via the bottom speaker announce the details of the message and then the message will begin to play. Note: the actual volume of the Voicemail may be what is causing your problem.

I have repeatedly tried that exact same thing on my iPhone SE 9.3.2 and it announces the voicemail through the bottom speaker, then plays the voicemail through the small ear speaker. I cannot figure out what I am doing different than you. I also want the voicemail to play on the bottom loud speaker.

Just wondering whether anyone has figured out how to get this to work yet. I am having the same issue: when I ask Siri to play me my voicemail messages, it reverts to the ear speaker, which kind of negates the handsfree functionality. Many thanks!

Same here, Siri won’t put the voice mail over the speaker!
