I've just sold my iPad mini to a family member and he is coming to pick it up later this afternoon. He wants it on iOS 6. I'm fairly certain I know how to do it but I just need to know where to download the iOS 6.1.3 file from?

I thought you could get it from apple?

EDIT: Have Apple stopped signing 6.1.3?

It is a bit confusing as it appears all the firmwares from 1.0 to 3.1.3 are downloadable for the iPhone2G yet when I attempted to do so I received various errors and nothing worked outside of going right back to 3.1.3

Perhaps I am missing a step or doing something wrong, but my take is many of those green checkmarked firmwares are not usable.

What are the error numbers you're getting?

Mostly "20" and sometimes 1600.

I also tried to restore an iPhone 3 with 3.1.3 firmware and it wouldn't take.
Error 20 might be fixed by entering DFU mode before restoring.

Error 1600 is basically a custom firmware error. The device needs a pwned DFU mode in order to work. Also, I think it has something to do with the new iTunes (which broke custom firmware restores).

I'll test downgrading my 3G to OS 3 and 2 today with iTunes 11.1 and share the results.
