yup, you can even have your keychain remember the file name!!! simple really!
This sort of defeats the reason for having an encrypted image.

If the password is stored in your Keychain, then if they can log into your computer, all images can be mounted.

A much better way is to have different passwords for each image and require that you must enter the password to have the image mount.

Do you realize how long it takes to crack blowfish? It would require multiple super-computers and take decades.

longer than the known age of the universe

DoFoT9 is not too smart and is completely missing the point of what the original poster was asking and wanted to do in the first place.

Again. This is the original posters solution:

it does doesnt it, i had a second thought about that once i posted. is there any way to have a separate keychain password to the user password? im 99% sure that you cant.

it would defeat the purpose but it does make it much easier then typing in your password each time you mount it (especially if you use long passwords).

at least the images would be safe from external hackers :D

I just keep all my pron & personal files in a folder and zip it. I just double click folder enter the maczip password and wa'la... there's all my files. Plus, maczip also hides file names..etc. And the added benefit of saving some HD space. :)

looking to hide "sensitive documents" eh my boy? say no more, say no more, nudge nudge wink wink! I put my sensitive documents in a password protected encrypted disc image, which I name blank (a few spaces makes it have no visible name) and put a custom clear icon to replace the disc image icon. then I nest it in some random folders on one of my external drives. There's probably a better way, but this way works for me. nudge nudge wink wink say no more say no more! ;)

Thanks again for this. Just tried it out by putting some dummy files in the image and it works just as I hoped. Requiring a password to mount the image is perfect.

Lol. I wrote a nice long post on how to create disk images & when I checked again, someone had beaten me to it. Oh well.

No worries! This thread turned really nasty for some reason, but it's good to see that everybody's back on track and helping one another.
