How do I hide the speech recognition controller?

I have just discovered the wonderful uses of the speech recognition application Apple provides. But one annoying thing is the controller doesn't seem like it can be hidden. Its always present on the desktop. How do I hide this, and still use the speech recognition?

Any help would be appreciated.

System Preferences -> Speech -> Speakable Items -> Off

double click the blue part it will minimize into the dock
