How do i keep ssh open when my iphone goes to sleep?

When it goes to sleep i lose connection. Is it possible to keep it active in sleep mode or do i need to just keep the phone from locking?

Keep it plugged in (charging) and it will stay connected when the screen is in sleep mode.
