How do I know if I have a 2G?

    Hey, i got a 16gb ipod touch a couple of weeks ago, maybe a wk or so after the let's rock event at bestbuy. anyway, i'm not sure whether or not i have a 1g or 2g model. is there any way to find out?

    Well you could always have gone to Apple.com and compared, but...
    2G has volume buttons, 1G doesn't.

    Also:

    - If the bezel (border) around the screen is black aluminum, it's a 1G. If the chrome back curves around to the edges of the screen, it's a 2G.
    - If it came in a black box with a picture of the iPod playing music on the front, it's a 1G. If it came in a plastic case with a sticker of the iPod displaying the homescreen on the front, it's a 2G.

    Wouldn't the easiest way be to play a song with no headphones connected and if it plays through a speaker than it's a 2g?

    You don't even have to do that. The 2G has volume control on the side.
