Hey, i got a 16gb ipod touch a couple of weeks ago, maybe a wk or so after the let's rock event at bestbuy. anyway, i'm not sure whether or not i have a 1g or 2g model. is there any way to find out?

Identifying iPod models

The iPod touch (2nd generation) can be distinguished from previous iPod touch models by it's contoured design and oval shaped antennae cover in the back upper left corner.

First Generation:

Second Generation:

Also:

- If the bezel (border) around the screen is black aluminum, it's a 1G. If the chrome back curves around to the edges of the screen, it's a 2G.
- If it came in a black box with a picture of the iPod playing music on the front, it's a 1G. If it came in a plastic case with a sticker of the iPod displaying the homescreen on the front, it's a 2G.

Wouldn't the easiest way be to play a song with no headphones connected and if it plays through a speaker than it's a 2g?
