How do I know whether or not I should upgrade to the new rMBP?

I have the late 2013 as well it's going to be fine for me for at least another year or two so I won't be getting a new one unless mine bite so the dust!!

Are you debt free with a decent savings account balance? If yes then buy it, if no then wait.

I currently have a late 2013 rMBP 2.6/8/256

It is running fine, and I have no problems with it (knock on wood).

The apps I mainly use are Firefox, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Word, and Time Machine.

I really like the new rMBP, but do you think I need one?

In your own assessment, it is running fine and has no issues. I think you, too, know the answer in that case. It is just want and not a real need. If it was a real need, you'd have booked one first and then posted here about having booked it.
