In the attached image of my menu bar, I'd like to get rid of the icon 8th from the left (between the wifi and Time Machine icon). I can't for the life of me figure out how, it's a redundant icon from when I used a usb dongle aaaaaages ago. Suggestions? I've hunted through network prefs but I'm stumped.

Yes, the dial up modem icon. You can either untick the show in menu option which will be in System Prefs > Network > USB dongle setting. Or if you hold down command you can click and drag it off the menu bar and it will disappear.

Aha, genius, thanks! The command click method worked a treat. I haven't used the usb dongle in question for a year plus and could never figure out how to rid myself of that icon. There are no references to a USB dongle in network prefs for some reason (uninstalled the Huwai drivers/software maybe?) so that's why I could never untick the show in menu box that I'd searched for previously.

So simple, gah.

Thanks again.
