How do I pick a picture to upload??

So I was creating my Google+ page and it asks you to upload a picture so when you click on "upload" it opens up Finder, so I scroll to pictures and it shows iPhoto, and when I click on that none of my pictures are there. Where are my pictures saved, and how do I upload them? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Export the pic from iPhoto, then attach it from the location where you exported it.

Select the picture in iPhoto, then click File > Export.

Yes, you're only exporting a copy.
