I would like Spotlight to ignore anything in my Trash when it performs searches.

I've gone into Spotlight>Preferences and added ".Trash" in the "Privacy" list.

However, when I use Spotlight, items in the Trash are still appearing in my searches.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Problem: SOLVED!

Okay...I sort of solved my own problem.

When you locate .Trashes (a normally hidden folder) in Finder, you must be in column view (not Icon view) when dragging to folder to add to your Spotlight privacy list.

Previously I dragged the icon and, for reasons unknown to me, it didn't work (even though ".Trash" showed up in the list. When I tried it again, with finder in column view, Trash was effectively shielded from Spotlight's prying eyes...

How did you add .Trash to the privacy list? Because when I use Terminal to "open .Trash" and then drag the .Trash folder from my home folder over into the Spotlight privacy list, Spotlight stops finding stuff in the Trash at my iBook running 10.4.2.

Edit: Never mind since you solved it yourself... ;)
