How do I register my physical iLife '11 (and iWork '09) discs with the Mac App Store so that I can just download those apps if needed in the future? I would like to get rid of the discs and just stick to downloading. Thanks.

I'm afraid you'll have to re-purchase iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, etc..) and iWork (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) to be able to download them from the Mac App Store.

I kind-of wondered why Apple didn't make the iLife apps free to all Mac users since they preinstalled on every Mac anyway, but that's the way it is.

What about people who bought macs circa iLife '11? Apple would be giving them a free upgrade.

Well that's really a bummer. I guess I'll hang on to these discs.
