First of all, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if I remove the lid to my macbook pro (purchased brand new from apple in 6/10), then I will have the hole where the apple light logo is right?

Assuming the above is correct, how do I remove the lid?

In general you don't: the entire screen half of the laptop is considered a sealed unit. You will almost certainly damage the screen.

the lid as in the whole top screen or as in the metal top screen not including the actual screen??

if you want the metal part not the scree you will have to separate the screen from back part.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4LLOhLH20E - shows you how to remove screen witch will leave the apple logo visible.

That was a fun video to watch.. I wouldn't be scared to do it even though I would be a first timer

Just out of curiosity.. what if I was to replace the LCD panel for a higher resolution one.. would OS X detect it ?
