How Do I Restore My iPhone to Original state After Hacking?

A friend installed "Installer 3" on my iPhone with a bunch of 3rd party apps. The reason I let him do this was because he said that I could simply click "restore" on iTunes and it would go back to its original state.

Ever since he did this, my phone has been randomly shutting off, the screen has been flickering, and I don't really use any of the 3rd party apps anyway. I want to go back to having a legitimate iPhone, but when I click restore on iTunes it recognizes a problem with the firmware and will not restore.

How do I completely erase everything from my iPhone and restore it to its original state?

London, England.
This is exactly why I've just left my 1.0.2 hack and everything is still working fine - Rather than being silly, and doing all this other rubbish and jeopardisin my iphone - just LEAVE IT!

It alldepends on whether or not you have an ATT phone. If you do, and the only hack you have done is jailbreaking for third party apps, I would uninstall everything that was put on there (however there are a few things that can't be uninstalled via installer). After this simply restore your iphone using itunes.

I can confirm that this is OK, at least it worked just fine for me. I used, and heard about the possible new update so I restored. Everything is now back to normal. Just make sure that you have everything backed up like your contacts and songs and everything the way you will want it once restored.
