We just got an AT&T iPhone 5 upgrade phone for a family member's iPhone 4S that we just want to sell immediately on eBay. It seems like it comes with a SIM card, which is odd. Of course, I'm going to have to remove the SIM card before I sell it.

Should I remove the SIM card and sell it before activation or after?

Remove the SIM card if you want. However, be sure to state that in your ad. Activation can be done by the buyer. Don't mess with that.

So the buyer would be able to simply put in his SIM card that's been used with a different phone and activate it? I'm guessing anyone buying this would be buying it to replace a lost, stolen, or broken one.

Or to use it for themselves as a first time user... either way. Just be sure about selling it since you are literally signing another 2 year contract with AT&T. In other words, you will be out of upgrades for a year.

OK, thanks for the information. Someone else is actually getting an iPhone 5 upgrade from an iPhone 5, and the one with the 4S is fine with the 4S.
