How do I sell an iphone in contract?

Been thinking about selling the 6+ but not sure how that works. I renewed with verizon for 2 years on this phone. Can I just deactivate it and reuse my old phone? When I do sell it, should I not ship with the SIM card?

Remove sim card, restore the phone completely, sell.

Erase All Content and Settings, turn off Find My iPhone, and remove the device from your iCloud account.

Be sure the device is un-registered from your carrier's account and/or remove your SIM card (if applicable)

All Verizon iPhone are unlocked regardless of contracts or Edge.

It's not really the physical phone that is on contract...it is your promise to keep the Verizon service plan for 2 years (of which the phone cost is included within).

If you lost the phone you'd still owe Verizon payment until the 2 years is up. Approximately $35 of your monthly bill is attributable to the phone itself.

No. The seller continues to assume responsibility of the contract. They just won't have the phone anymore.
