i recently paid off my iPhone 7 Plus 128gb with sprint and bought an iPhone X. I was gonna sell the I7 but I’m not sure what info do I need? Do I have to call sprint and get a code or something? When I check the ESN it said something about financed.

I’ve never sold anything online before so I’m not sure if phones need something specific.

How recently did you pay off your I7? I know when I have paid off past balances with T-Mobile, it was almost reflected immediately in their system as paid off.

In any event, once your X is all set up and running, wipe your I7 so that all data is removed and the device is no longer tied to your iCloud account. After that, you can list it on Swappa.com to sell it (I would avoid eBay).

Once you enter your IMEI to list your phone, Swappa will verify the device is paid off. So either way, you should be okay to list it.

I think in this case OP is saying the ESN is still showing as financed so Swappa won't approve the listing. Maybe Sprint's system is slow to show it's paid off?

OP, if you go here and it says it's still financed then Swappa won't approve your listing: https://swappa.com/esn

If you want to sell your phone to anyone other than a Sprint customer, you're going to need to get the phone unlocked before then.

Assuming the 'automatic' DSU (Domestic SIM Unlock) has either failed or not occurred (it tends to happen only about 3-4 months after full payment IF the phone is still active on the account) you will need to contact them.

I suggest contacting Sprint's International Services. Everyone else will either give you the runaround or have no idea what you are talking about.

If you don't unlock it I would make sure you note that it's locked to Sprint when you sell it.

PS. iPhones locked to Sprint generally bring less resale value.

I doubt it will just manually change from the financial status. I bought a iPhone 8 on eBay that I’ve been using on sprint for over 2 months now. The phones always showed it. I even applied for an unlock over a week ago and it still comes up as money still owed even though it’s paid off because they wouldn’t have unlocked it otherwise. Your more then likely going to have to call sprint and get them to manually change it.
