How Do I Set Up My Tmobile Data Plan On Iphone?

I just bought my very first iPhone after using the Blackberry for a little over a year. I'm soooo exicted!! :D

Anyway, I have T-mobile and am planning to stay with them. I have the Blackberry data plan ($19.99 one)... will that work with the iPhone or will I have to drop that and get a diff. data plan?

Like I said, this is my first iPhone ever so I'm trying to learn a bit about it before I get it.

Need help!!!

I just jailbreak my iphone 3G version 2.2.1 with quickpwn and now i have no network service with T-Mobile, I can't make any phone calls out nor receive.
What should i do? I search all over the internet about VPNs? Cellular Data Network??? But i'm still confused. My plan is the 300 whenever mins plan.
I need help getting back the network! thanks!

You installed Yellowsn0w? Try toggling airplane mode.
 
I have the more expensive $24.99 plan, but I used the APN internet2.voicestream.com and it works great, every feature of the iPhone 3G works, except well...3G.
 
I have a tzones internet problem also. I've had edge working on my gevey sim 3g totally fine for quite a while with wap.voicestream.com, and the $5.99 tzones plan. My phone ran out of battery and i didn't have a charger for couple days, and when i turned it back on, the edge just won't work. I have data roaming on, tried all APN settings, and the "E" won't even show, and it worked perfectly before.

[edit]: I fixed it by resetting network settings.

I was able to get my IPHONE to work with the epc.tmobile.com.... (WITH & WITHOUT THE GEVEY TURBO SIM CARD) this forum explain it perfectly...
settings> general > network > cellular data network > advance > APN


for APN type: epc.tmobile.com

leave "username & password" blank

Guys, you don't have to go through the hassel of looking online. Just call t-mobile. They will help you set up your iPhone. They already know what phone your using regardless if you tell them or not. They don't care because you pay for your monthly service.

I have worked on unlocking my 3g to use on t-mobile for almost 2 days, I finally jailbroke it, but my baseband was 5.9 and I couldn't roll it back. Thankfully today, I used Pwnge Tool and Ultrasn0w to unlock it with the 3.0 OS. I thought everything was fine until I realized my data plan wasn't working which was a huge dissapointment. I tried numerous APNs and had no luck, I was begining to lose hope and thankfully I stumbled upon this forum and saw your post... it worked instantly!!!!!!!!!

Did it work when you did this? I just got a iphone 3g and I am trying to set up tmobile on it. Can you please help me? I was able to get it to recognize tmobile. It just didnt recognize the internet.

Under Network, Cellular Data Network is gone when I upgraded to 3.0. I can't change it. Any work around?
 
Unlocked 2G iPhone, workings, but data plan not working

so i thought I was being clever by purchasing an unlimited data plan for an older t-mobile phone for 9.99, by using the old phone's own t-zones web. It detected that it was an older phone and offered the 9.99 plan, and it seemed to work great. Afterward, however, I tried to swap out the sim and use the same data plan on my iphone and it didn't work. I tried the epc.tmobile.com apn, and the wap.voicestream.com apn, and neither one worked. Actually, I take that back, it worked on a british news webpage that I test it out just because it was in my bookmarked pages for some reason. It actually loaded the page, but everything else I tried wouldn't work. Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so, how did you solve it? Just curious!

which server is faster?

does anyone know which server is faster? epc.tmobile.com or internet2.voicestream.com? They both work for me.. just wan't to use the best one..
 
Any word on if the epc.tmobile.com APN (or any other) will work with iphone 3.1 and MMS? Specifically, I want to know if iphone firmware 3.1 works with Apple's built in software, I'm not needing information on things like Swirly MMS.
 
I'm planning on getting an iPhone on eBay or craigslist and unlocking it to use with T-Mobile. I heard that with the old T-Zones plan, people were able to use it as an iPhone data plan. They don't offer that plan anymore and now they have a $9.99 unlimited web plan and a $19.99 unlimited web and messaging plan. These are for regular phones (non-smartphone). I have an unlimited messaging plan which I plan to replace with the unlimited web and messaging plan so I can use it with an unlocked iPhone. Does anyone know if this plan will work with the iPhone? Or will I have to buy the $34.99 smartphone unlimited web and messaging plan? Somebody please reply I really need to know! :apple:

I just cancelled my AT&T service and unlocked my iPhone for tmobile just 4 days ago. I told them that I have the iPhone and they immediately advsed that I would need the $24.99 data plan, but recommended the $34 plan if I was a heavy texter. While I think there may be 2 or 3 data plans for the iPhone, your best bet is to ask tmobile what will work with the iPhone.
 
Wow, about 3 months ago when I had the $19.99 unlimited plan, none of these hacks worked for me. In fact, when I called up t-mobile they told me to pay for the $35 one. Almost jumped ship to Sprint for the hero(which I hated).

It will work. I have T-Zones, but it all works the same.

I was just anxious to find answers to a few questions before I could go ahead with the purchase.

How can you use an iPhone on Tmobile plan in US? Is it true that you need to buy an unlocked iphone that does not have a warranty? How will it work and the cost involved? Also is there a possibility of getting a data plan to use with iPhone on Tmobile’s network
Please advice.

Anyway - in the US you need an unlocked iPhone to use it on T-Mobile.

There are two ways to unlock.

Factory Unlock - The phone was sold unlocked. Not currently available in the US - maybe you live close enough to Canada to try to snag one from an Apple store (make sure to call ahead :D )? Anyway, factory unlocks are permanent. Can upgrade with regular iOS updates from Apple - warranty is fine

Jailbreak - You jailbreak, then run the unlock program/app. Note, the current basebands you will get on a brand new phone are not unlockable, although they are working on it. For this kind of unlock, you cannot upgrade through iTunes when Apple releases an update, or you're undo the unlock and (generally) upgrade the baseband to an not unlockable version. Technically voids warranty (although you can restore to stock firmware and get it serviced, but then you lose the unlock)
