How do I smarten up the ambient sensor?

Ever since I turned off the keyboard lighting myself, it never seems to turn on automatically anymore.

Whats the deal? I mean its not BIG deal I know, but its still cool if it could auto change its self.

Check your settings: System Preferences, Keyboard auto adjust and timeout etc, and or increase the brightness level with the F6 key
