How do I speed up iPhone 3G running 4.2.1

It is jailbroken, just want to speed it up. Anything I can delete to make it run faster?

I have Spotlight turned off.

You cant speed it up.
The iphone 3G is a drag on anything 4.0 and higher.
You can speed up your user experience by getting a 3GS or iphone 4.

I'm giving my 3G away to a family member, so don't want to buy them a new one.

I did this to my old 3g that my girl is using now and it's almost as fast as my iP4 when opening various menus. Makes it usable again.
