I just got my iPhone 13 Pro Max replaced again after the cameras were damaged by debris. I don’t know why this keeps happening. Is there any thing that I can do to prevent myself from damaging my phone in any way again? This is now the third iPhone 13 Pro Max I have gone through. For a phone I paid over 2000 bucks for, it seems that I haven’t been very good with preventing it from being damaged. The first time was at the end of November when I got some Christmas coloured dead pixels when I dropped the phone and had to have the display replaced, then on June 23, I shattered the back somehow, and had to have the entire phone replaced, and most recently, the cameras got ruined by debris, so they had to replace the phone again. Each time, restoring from a back up and resetting my eSIM has been a nightmare. THIS IS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO WHY I WILL NOT BE UPGRADING TO THE IPHONE 14 PRO MAX THIS YEAR. I DON’T KNOW WHY THE LAST SENTENCE was in all caps I wasn’t yelling I’m using dictation. WHAT CAN I DO FROM NOW ON TO PREVENT MY PHONE FROM EVER BEING DAMAGED AGAIN? (Dictation has switched to all caps for some reason)

Yes I use a case. I use the Frosted Gen 3 Phone Rebel case, and yes I typically carry it in my pocket. A $2000 phone shouldn’t be breaking this often, especially when it’s in a good case and is advertised as having the “toughest glass in a smartphone”

Forget you little “frosted” case, they make case that will turn you phone into a huge brick. They protect from about everything, but ruin the phones sleekness.

I do try to treat it like an expensive thing I don’t want to break because it is, but accidents happen and in my case, I feel like I’m just unlucky enough. I’ve never broken a phone this frequently. My last phone, the iPhone 11, lasted a year and a half before I replaced it due to water damage, and then upgraded a few months later to the 13 Pro Max. I resolved to never take a phone in the water, unless I use a totally sealed waterproof case, until I upgrade to a future iPhone that is totally waterproof. And I’ve taken precautions this time by getting a camera lens protector, but if it ruins my camera, I might have to remove it and risk camera damage again which I don’t want to do

They have less screen real estate and worse battery life.
Well that's physics for you!

But the tradeoff is worth it IMHO. Significantly lighter, easier to hold in one hand, and less of an annoyance. Apple knocked it out of the park with the 13 Mini; the screen is big enough, it's easy to use with one hand and the stamina of the battery is very good.

I have a launch 13 Pro, no case and I’ve dropped it several times without anything broken apart from dents and jagged edges. Some hairlines on the screen of course, but I only see them when the screen is off. I have AC+ but not used it yet. I think it’s a very durable phone, and my next phone will be the Max since I fly my drone and want the bigger screen for that.

I’ve been using an SE’16 for over 4 months and it’s in “as new condition” with no marks or scratches on it. I use a cheap clear case and a tempered glass screen protector. I bought the thing new for $100 so it is pretty worthless but I try to take care of it as my current daily driver.

My 12 Mini is in perfect condition after 18 months of use… I began with an Otterbox case which made it pretty impregnable and have since switched to a stylish Apple silicone case as I began using the MagSafe battery pack.

I don’t know how you keep destroying phones but it is clearly caused by user error along with some bad luck. The 11 suffering water damage is bad luck as I used to submerge my 8 in water each month to give it a thorough clean and never experienced any water damage. I did the same with my 12 Mini!

If you are clumsy and unlucky, look into getting an Otterbox Defender case as I can assure you that your next phone will come out of it looking as good as it did the day you put it in.

Don‘t use it - those things are not built for handling or putting them in a case. Also, next time, don‘t buy a phablet - its mass will contribute to damages if it falls on the floor

Seriously, if you often drop your phone, get insurance. It will be cheaper than apple care and cover things apple care does not.

And don‘t use an e-sim. If your phone gets destroyed again, just put the sim into the new one the insurance paid for, enter your icloud credentials and after an hour or so, it`ll be like the old one never went away.

…easier to hold in one hand…
Ah yes, the old one-handing a ~$1000 phone idea, desired by many but rather embarrassing to explain when a drop occurs…

"How did you damage the device?"

"Uhhhh, I was one handing it."

Not for me, no matter the size, I handle my devices with two hands. My wife already gets upset if I break something using two hands. I can't imagine (I don't want to) what I'd hear if I broke something trying to use it one-handed.

Not to state the obvious, but take care of your stuff. 1) dropped it - that’s on you 2) damaged by debris? Was that another rough care issue, don’t even know what that means. Personally, I use a case, keep in my front pocket so as not to get it stolen or fall out, don’t put it with keys or anything else that could damage it. And I don’t drop it

the cameras got ruined by debris

My last phone, the iPhone 11, lasted a year and a half before I replaced it due to water damage,

You may have set a record for iPhone accidents. If you want to avoid future failures I would definitely investigate getting a a rugged case such as Otterbox.

Is it breaking or is it being broken? two different things.

you can go own to the Pro, I had same issues with the max, I think its due to weight it keeps falling, or getting bumped on things... never in my life have had this happen, except for the Max!
