How do I stop email?

I'm getting flooded with emails from a thread I've posted in. I keep having to unsubscribe in the CP, but it doesn't appear to keep me unsubscribed.

Is there a way to not automatically be subscribed to a thread you've posted in?

Under User CP Edit Options and Default Thread Subscription Mode, be sure your default setting is 'No email notification.
