how do I stop word and excel automatically opening when I turn computer on?

    when I turn my iMac on, about 6 pages of word and excel automatically open which is really annoying. How do I stop this??

    Before you shut down, Uncheck "Open windows when logging back in"

    where do I find that option to uncheck it? What do I click on? thanks

    After you select Restart or / Logout / Shutdown, it will show a dialog for the checkbox.

    Uncheck this box when restarting or shutting down.
