Ive just bought an iphone 11 pro max with a possible faulty battery, as it wont turn on. Is there anyway to test if the battery is dead first, without taking phone apart?. Apparently, the phone was on 5% and put on charge over, but in the morning the phone was dead. Thanks.

Does the phone function at all if connected to the charger?
Hi. No. Apparently he took it to a shop and they plugged a device into it and said there was no communication with the battery, so it was more likely the battery needs replacing. I just want to test it myself. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you also have a Mac, you could buy the plus version of Coconut Battery. You can connect your phone via USB to the Mac, and get the stats that way.

You have to take it out and test. There are battery testers used by repair shops, but in this case your best bet would be to replace the battery. Honestly though, it’s unlikely a 11 Pro would have such a bad battery it fails to boot.

It is one ive bought to try and repair.
Since you are fixing the phone buy the battery first, then install it yourself should be an easy one, lookup youtube for guidance. One part store I have dealt with is Gadgetfix.com. Keep the battery going that is the first step.

Ive got one of those usb charging testers, so at least i can check if the phone is getting a charge. Ive never used it before, so would you know what the amps and voltage should be?. Thanks, Gary

You mentioned the repair store told you to replace the battery, it is a first step to you fixing the phone, it is easy work. Should there be screen replacement that is not bad too. It is a matter of how involve you wanted to. Buy the battery if you cannot get the phone back to life, then return the battery. At least you gain the experience with putting in the battery on phone, I have been changing batteries on phones for few years, Iphone X onwards are a piece of cake. Even screen changing is easy work.

Hi. It was my friends phone which i have now bought off him. The shop advised him it could possibly be the battery. Ive just plugged a usb charging tester in it and it comes up 5.30 volts, but amps only flashes every 10 seconds showing only 0.02 amps. Is this likely to be charging port, battery or ic charging chip?. Thanks.

To make life easier, charge the phone for say 4 hours see the battery get some life. Then it comes back very low percentage. And see if the phone works, if it is working. Get a new battery and go from there. It does not hurt ask your
friend was the phone working before you took over.
