How do i Transfer all data from MacBook pro To the macbook air

I want to buy the new MacBook air but what's the best way to transfer everything from my MacBook pro. I have lion on the MacBook pro now.

Not having ever tried this, how well does it actually work? I assume pretty well as is the case of most Apple products, but wondering nonetheless.
