How do I transfer apps on 3G to 3GS when upgrading?

Can someone answer this simple question for me? I will be giving my 3G to someone else on my family plan when I receive my 3GS.

Your apps should be on your iTunes account.

When the new person synchs to their account, the phone will be wiped and when you synch your new 3Gs, all the apps/music and videos will be load onto it.

Sync the 3GS with iTunes as you would with the 3G and boom, works.
