Hi - I'm new to iPhone after several years on Android.

There's something I just can't work out - how do I stop the calculator making those annoying clicks as you type?

I've gone into settings and turned off "keyboard sounds" but that hasn't worked and I can't find setting specifically for the calculator app.

Thanks in advance.

Aside from putting your phone into silent/vibrate mode, you can't, at least not so far in iOS 10. The calculator sounds used to be tied to keyboard sounds prior to iOS 10, but for some reason that was changed in iOS 10 (so far).

It amazes me how somethings bother some while others are oblivious. The keyboard sound is at such a low volume . . . . .
The difference might also play a role, for a long time the sound was controlled by the keyboard sound setting and those who had those disabled would never heard this sound because of it, while suddenly in iOS 10 the setting no longer applies to that sound, so for someone not being used to hearing it (because they disabled sounds like that using the keyboard sounds option) to now hear it just that difference is enough to make it noticeable and of some annoyance most likely.

I think you've misunderstood. I don't want a different calculator app, I just want to stop the clicking noise when using the stock app.
Sadly you can't so I offered an alternative calculator which has the option to change and indeed mute the button presses. I've been using it for years because I always found the stock calculator to be lacking.

I'm getting very close to returning to Android. Why can't I turn them off?!
Using an iPhone requires surrendering to Apple. They dictate to their customers, a practice many of them prefer. Not having top think appeals to a vast number of them. Especially those who have trouble making decisions.

Returning to android over this? Unbelievable
Actually it's a matter of principal. Easily understood by those who think for themselves.

This click sound drives me nuts - I submitted it to apple TWICE during beta testing and never received a response...Oh well, maybe one day...without Jailbreak...

It's not so much that we Apple or iPhone users are incapable of independent thought, it's just that this particular user happens to know where the tip of his finger is. When I touch something, I don't need the something to tell me. I can actually feel it. Otherwise, everything in every store should click when we touch it.

This has to be a troll thread. No way anyone would ditch iOS because of the sounds an app makes which is completely avoidable.

I have to say it is kind of weird - I have the option to turn off keyboard clicks yet I can't turn off the calendar date / time wheel clicks - pretty weird.

Yeah, all of that used to be controlled by the keyboard sounds setting prior to iOS 10.

Horrid. I just updated and wish I has not. I may not buy the 7. I am seriously thinking of going all PC and droid. I am a decades long Apple fan but this little drip drip drip of things has about pushed my limits.

You can still go back to iOS 9 if you want.

It is amazing to me how some people annoy everyone around them (like in a waiting room or similar setting) with all the little sounds on their phone but they are completely oblivious to it.

Some are annoyed by the little things, other are plain annoying. I can not remember ever hearing keyboard clicks from another person but their loud mouth in their phone conversation while their baby screamed to high heavens does bother me. Instead of trying to comfort the crying kid, she just upped her volume talking on the phone.

Sorry but the little clicks from the calculator are a non issue for most.

it is annoying - if i like to hear clicks, i would have turned them all on. But no, i dont want to hear clicks, not when typing, using a calculator or changing something in setttings.
