I just downloaded iPhone 16 this morning and I can’t get always on display to work.
You are being laughed at because of your terminology. You 'download' iOS, which is the operating system that the iPhone uses. You can't 'download' an iPhone, because that's the phone - it's hardware. That would be what iOS 16 runs on. The iPhone 14 has not even released yet.

I mean, unless you're Doctor Who or something, but I suspect you are not.

Also, AOD doesn't work on anything before the iPhone 14 - which as I said, hasn't released yet.

Just pointing things out man. :)

The new screen technology in the iPhone 14, which allows the screen to be refreshed at a rate as low as 1Hz (one time per second), is what's going to enable the Always-On Display functionality. No previous iPhones will be updated to support it because their displays can only go down to 10Hz, and would have horrible battery life if Always-On Display was forced onto them.
