Really? Well I find it annoying when people arrogantly assert that an issue I and plenty of others have is being caused by me or is "all in my head." I never said it was the general consensus. Apple makes great products, but they have some serious flaws that they are too stubborn to ever fix.

Once again, it is your opinion and not a general consensus that it is a flaw that needs fixing.

The "Undo" will sometimes activate when I roughly put my phone down on the bed or couch etc...but it doesn't impact me enough to be considered an annoyance.

Ha! I'm so glad this was brought up. The "Undo Typing" window always appears during my Messenger conversations when I put my phone down, switch hands, etc and I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what button I was hitting to cause it. I can breath easy now! Though I find this feature personally annoying as it happens while trying to do other things, I haven't tried to use it for its intended purpose so I'm not exactly knocking its functionality

Actually you're wrong, it is 100% a flaw, and here is proof:

There is absolutely NO reason it should activate here.

At the very least there should be an option to turn it off. At the most there should be a key on the keyboard.

Etch-a-Sketch

Wow you're a bloody genius! Never even thought of that lol. Still don't like the feature but good call.

I don't have it, and to be honest I forgotten about that feature. So its not even turned on for me.

I have activated or more than once by accident but it's infrequent enough to not bother me.

I use it sometimes when I have started typing a text and realise I want to ring them instead. If it bothers people (odd I know), don't shake your phone while you are typing a text.

Right I'm off to find someone who hasn't tucked their chair in and get annoyed. There must be a forum for that. :p

Any time I'm on my phone and I stand up to walk in the other room without hitting sleep, when I look at my phone it has been activated. It's really annoying because it happens even when the keyboard isn't open, on web pages such as blogs and news articles where its not even possible to type. I shouldn't have to hit sleep just to stand up and walk into a different room or even just create the most basic amount of movement.

Makes no sense. Must be why they created ShaketoUndoKiller, can't wait until they update it for iOS 8.

Hey,
Just made another thread for this. I have the same problem but on my iPad where its so sensitive it pops up constantly. Seems fine on my iPhone where it never activates by accident.
I totally agree with you that it should only work when the keyboard is up, not all the time.

Weird... I didn't even know the iPhone had that feature. It's never done that to me. Not even when I've thrown it down somewhere. It's always just like it was when I last typed.

And no, not an anger throw like across the room. Just more like a I'm done with it for now and toss it to the counter, table, wherever. The iPhone 5 is pretty durable. It often lands with a thunk and still looks and works like new.

That said, I just tried to shake for undo, and wow, you gotta shake it like a heinze ketchup bottle to activate it.

That must be an intermittent issue. I just tested on my phone and I can't get it to activate shake to undo unless my cursor is in a text field in which I have typed something.

I hate shake to undo! But in a panic, I need it

I hate shake to undo, but in a panic, I need it! Turn it off in settings. If you screw up, without doing anything else, carefully go to settings and reactivate shake. Go back to your mistake and shake. Then deactivate it again. Pain in the butt, but it will save your hide. Try making a test note and delete it. Do what I said and it will undelete.

Movers and shakers frequently activate this annoying feature. It can be turned off, then turned back on if you accidentally delete an extremely important note. The flaw is, there is no undelete button.

I think you can de-activate it under settings-general-accessibility-shake to undo.
You can these days. Can't quite recall how long ago that option was added, but quite possible it wasn't around a few years ago when this thread was created and most of the discussion in it happened.

I have mine turned off. One too many times I'd be typing something and sneeze and it would annoy the crap out of me that it would come up lol
