How do you add American Airlines boarding pass to passbook?

I know with Southwest, when I check in I get an email with a passbook file attached. I click on it and it gets added.

No. You have to check in on your phone. After you check in on your phone, it should give you the option to view boarding pass. The pass opens in your app browser, but somewhere on the page there's an "Add" button. I think it's in the top menu. Should be that simple. When you're at the airport, the pass shows up in your lock screen and stays there until you leave.

So I fly tomorrow and checked in with the AA app, it's now on my passbook on my iPhone but I still only see my credit card on my apple watch passbook, you're saying it's automatically shown once I'm in the airport?

If all you're seeing is your credit card then its because you are double clicking the friends button.(guessing) Open the Passbook app from your apps page on the watch which will show your full list of Passbook cards.
