How do I back up a widget?

I found one I like that is non apple related from the site, and when I go to install it, i get a message saying that this will replace the one already on my machine and if i want it saved i should back it up.

how do i do this?

Wait, are you just upgrading the widget? If so, the older version should go into the trash. You can just drag it out if you want it again (Of course, if you Empty the trash, it's gone for good...

yeah hey guys i just want to replace the calculator widget, but i dont want to lose the orignal. if i make a copy where should i save it? anywhere?

well of course i just installed it, but guess what? the old one was not in the trash... sigh

something told me to rename the new one to calculator black so it did not overwrite. that did the trick, when i do a spotlight search, i find both calculators.
