The 5th gen comes with only the USB cable. I've got ihome that connects to 30 pin connector.

USB connector on your computer should take around 3 hours for 80% charge and 4 hours for full charge.

It only takes me 40 minutes from 20% to 80% and 2 hours from 80% to 100%. That's already a long time though

Well I charge my 4th gen by putting the wall adapter into the wall and then I carefully plug the 30 pin cable into the iPod and carefully put the USB in the adapter. Then.. *beep* it charges.
Apple website specified that it should take around 2 hours to reach 80 and 4 hours for full full charge. The full plug image might show up but in reality you will need to leave it on for longer while until it actually fully charged.

USB is required to have a minimum power output per port. Some computers put out more current, allowing devices to charge faster. Apple was probably estimating that charge time based on the minimum output.

I think all of the iPod Touch's have only came with a USB cord, Apples expects you to charge through the USB port on your Mac or PC.
They will be happy to sell you a charger, if you would rather go that route.
