How do you check the firmware w/o activation?

I got an iPhone which I was planning to unlock, but I think it is running 1.1.1, but I am not sure. Is there anyway to tell which firmware it is using?

Hopefully new program updates will come out soon to unlock for the new update.

settings/general/about :

Version: will be 1.0.2 etc
Modem firmware: if its 03. something thats ok, if it's 04. something then its 1.1.1

or in the activation screen - hit slide for emergency - Key in:

*3001#12345#*

Hit Versions - 3.14 or lower and your on your way :)

Everytime I try that lately I get "Error performing request No Network Service"

Happened to me every time I have tried in the last 2 days. Anyone else? I'm running 1.1.1
