Canned air it's fine just please don't shake it.

There it's always someone at work shaking canned air shorting electronics.

I've used the end of an electric guitar string to gently lift out packed in lint and dust. My iPhone 5 wouldn't charge anymore.

a few seconds with the string and we're back in business

(the D string gauge .024w usually works best).

I would use the vacuum with the dust brush to get lint out of the ports and speaker grills on my 5.

To pull out lint and stuff from my headphone jack, and charge port, ill use a needle or thumbtack. To clean the residue and stuff, i take a q tip and pull off most of the cotton and stick the end in my headphone jack. I cant tell you how many times it went in white and came out black. Then ill take the extra cotton that i pulled off the q tip and use it to clean out the dock connector.
