My #1 reason for purchasing the iPod Touch is the wi-fi Internet connectability.

Even though I have 3 computers in my home and a laptop that I take from room to room -- all connected with wi-fi networking and I'net -- I haven't been able to put my Touch down. I think it's awesome that I've got the I'net in the palm of my hand.

At any rate, I'm curious to know how others connect to wi-fi? I'm lucky that I have it in my home, but I'm afraid that when I take my Touch into the real world I'm going to be at a loss without my I'net (unless of course I'm at a Starbucks or Barnes & Nobel or I simply hijack a connection nearby). What other options do we have? (I'm not about to pay $800 to my cell phone company to convert my mobile phone into a portable modem.)

How do you all connect? :)

Lots of bars have free wifi these days, as do sandwich shops, coffee bars, etc.

Here in Belfast you find alot of smaller coffee chains offer free Wi-Fi in the city centre. Big places like Starbucks etc require subscription to T-Mobile i think.

Here's a decent list of some national companies that offer free wifi at all of their locations.

Where did he say that? He wants to know, other than at home, where others connect to wifi.
