I'm curious about how people protect (or don't) their iPads, regardless of size. I've had three, don't currently have one, probably going 11" iPP in March after update, depending. My mini went naked, my others had covers, not cases. I found that, unlike my phone, I don't use my iPad while walking about, on the go. It's mostly sitting in the car, on the couch, on the train, etc., just needed a little protection on the screen.

But I'm getting more paranoid, given the cost of a new iPP, so I'm curious.
Also, anyone ever regretted not having more protection on their iPad? Dropped it somehow?

My mini 5 lives case and screen protector free when at home, which is pretty much always. When it rarely leaves the house I put it in a Moshe Versacover case, but I will remove it from the case when I’m not actively traveling.

I use a tri-fold folio case which doubles as stand. I just find them more convenient versus using the iPad caseless.

Apple folio or magic keyboard, if I take it anywhere outside I use a padded sleeve case if I’m not taking another bag.

Gen 2 12.9 here, I have a smart keyboard on the front and a logitech backing (from their keyboard combo kit) with kickstand. When I feel like taking the ipad out of either I do so - not uncommon for me to carry the ipad around the house without a case/cover on it.

I've been a big fan of using a smartcover to protect the screen and a skin on the back to protect the back from scratches and to improve grip. I like the minimal approach and have never had any problems... but I can see that if someone were accident-prone, then something like an Otterbox case would be needed.

The iPad Mini 5 and iPad 8th gen are the only iPads that currently have smartcovers. My Mini 5 is a little powerhouse and a great digital notebook and ereader, and if I ever wanted a larger form-factor, I'd get the 8th gen. I don't see myself buying an iPad that doesn't have a smartcover option.

I echo @sracer sentiments... I preferred the smart cover. But ever since the 3rd generation of iPP, Apple went the Folio approach.. covering both the back and front. I even had the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio... but it added some bulk that I didn't really care for.

So, I'm using this 3rd party Folio case... that I purchased back when I first I bought this 3rd generation iPP. The way it looks.. its definitely some wear and tear on it, however more tear than wear.

Always have a screen protector and swap my cases around quite often. Most are full cases but one only covers the rear and sides.

Just a cheap front and back case on my gen 2 12.9 but when i upgrade to the next 12.9 will be getting a Mous case so hopefully will protect it a little better with the newer versions being more prone to bending

I've always used Apple Smart covers/folio's for my iPad's. I currently own the Air 3 and have an Apple Smart Cover on it. If I didn't stream a lot with my iPad, I wouldn't have the the Smart Cover and rock it without any protection.

Indoor use only at home, but still managed to drop it. After the resulting slight edge dent, now always a minimalist folio case with flexible TPU edges and corners.

I usually have a Smart Cover on my original iPad Air and, so far, I’ve been using my new iPad Air naked since I got it in November. Probably I should get a folio for the new one at some point.

normally apple smart case always feel it's the slimmest out there
Yeah, but the cost is the problem. I went with 3rd party options, 80 bucks for a case whereas I can get it for 20.. and it’s not all that much different. But then again, I just checked.. it’s 100 bucks. I didn’t think it was that much.

iPad mini 5 - TGSP with smart case knock-off from AliExpress. It's not the nicest case in the world, but it was only a few bucks and it fits my needs perfectly. Can't complain.

I’ve been using Logitech keyboard cases for years. They seem to create just what I need from a keyboard and case combo.

I use this case that has a strong magnetic stand and storage for the pencil. Best case I have ever used.

I don’t use screen protectors on iPad generally since they are in front protective cases. For my phone I do use screen protectors but just to reduce minor scratches from being in laptop bag or pocket.

Still want to use naked, but nowadays I put my 12.9 2018 in this one: good protection and nice place where put the pencil.

Mine just has a clear case, much like an iPhone case, with some extra protection at the corners and a clear screen protector.
