Maybe you folks can help...

I reinstalled Lion using the recovery partition, but something is borked with my user profile and the issues that I've been experiencing haven't gone away (crashing System Preferences, logging in immediately logs back out 4 out of 5 times, WiFi dropping out every 5 seconds, assigned Right Shift as keyboard shortcut to Mission Control, changed it back to ^up arrow, but now Mission Control always opens with Right Shift)

So clean install is my last option. But before I do this, I would like to try to remedy the situation by creating a new user profile and seeing if these issues are persistent across my entire install. Unfortunately, when I go to System Preferences > Users & Groups and hit the Unlock icon, then authorize, System Preferences shows a spinning beach ball then crashes. This happens when I click the Login Items tab as well.

Is there a way to manually create a user profile using the terminal? Or is there a hidden root account that I can enable to create a new profile?

Thanks!
