How do you determine body proportion?

JC Penney does custom made jeans now. They take you through several site pages and ask you all sorts of questions about your body type and measurements. The only thing I don't know about myself is my body proportion; how do you determine that? 😕

They seem to have missed out "Big in this".

It seems remarkably stupid to ask a population for such subjective judgments of body shape in order to get an accurate fit of clothes.

Well most clothes are designed on the bell curve. If you happen to be one of those persons at the base of the bell curve, you're screwed.
