How do you dismiss the back button overlay on Apple TV+/iTunes content?

So you’re watching something on Apple TV+, say, and you press the menu/back button and that little box pops up at the bottom of the screen. How do you dismiss it but carry on watching the video?

It disappears by itself after a few seconds.

I believe it will stay there as long as you’re finger is touching the trackpad.
