How do you duel screen with OSX?

Stupid question. I just got an extra monitor for my ibookG4 and i'm running os x. When i plug in the monitor and detect it, I get the same screen i have on my laptop, but how do i make a whole seperate dual screen? Thanks!

Should be under Sytem Preferences, monitors, and then turn of mirroring.

With the iBook G4 screen spanning isn't available only Video Mirroring.

There is this hack though that will enable screen spanning.

I have used it on multiple monitors and although people disclaim this hack as a Use at your own risk, it works just fine for me. Good luck.

The iBook did not support dual monitors (neither did the iMac G5's), however this is a software limitation which can be changed by using "screen spanning doctor" (google it).

Although there are caveats listed with its use, I have never heard of any problems with it (not had any problems myself using is with my G5 iMac).

That's a relief -- I thought he meant with pistols. Don't you have to slap your monitor's face with a glove or something?

I've had several iBook users in my department that have been using the Screen Spanning hack for over a year now. Exposé and Core Image are a little slow but they get the screen real estate.
